Professor Amable Tuibeo: Marxism Revived!
Philosophy should come down from the 'ivory tower' where it has been playing the fiddle of neutrality so its voice could be heared on issues affecting the freedom and survival of mankind. Were philosophy to remain silent on issues which rock the society on the pretext that it has nothing to do with with people's struggle for a just and humane world, it would be consigned to the limbo of the historical irrelevance.
Professor Amable G Tuibeo, Ph. B; BSE; M.A. (Philosophy); Ph. D. (candidate), was formerly Chairman, Department of Philosophy, History and Literature of Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He was also the former Director of PUP-Ragay Extension by which he emancipated a sociological development of the said province. He also founded the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy Degree Program in the said University. Tuibeo was voted "Outstanding teacher of 1984" by the Teacher Center of the Philippines "for advncing the Filipino Teachers' struggle for a nationalist, scientific and Pro-people Education and Democratic Rights." Known to his friends as Ka Abe, he taught philosophy at ease. He is a man of few words yet his eloquence on massive meaning can be equated. He was a former professor at University of Sto. Tomas, De La Salle University, and University of the East. He is currently teaching Philosophy of Politics as well as Dialectical/Historical Materialism or Marxism at PUP. His wit on the field of Marxism can be imagined with thousand realities, hence, with a hundred thoughts contend.
In honor of his greatness during his 20 years of teaching legacy, MARX 2012 is a tribute for the splendid contribution of Ka Abe in his journey towards his ultimate philosophical tower. |
